Activities

Increase the profile of Bwindi Orphans Development Centre (BODEC) by building websites and other publicity.

Assist communications with sponsors and other supporters of BODEC by acting as intermediary and replying to emails on their behalf (feedback from the websites is directed to our email address and we forward from there/reply as appropriate) to reduce the disadvantages caused by the remoteness of the district.

Support the sponsor programme we aim to support the sponsorship programme by publicising the scheme, encouraging new sponsors and by assisting in communications between the orphanage, which is geographically very remote (a 5 hour drive to the nearest town and internet access) and UK sponsors (possibly also European and American sponsors). The sponsor programme run by the orphanage is expanding rapidly and we have been asked to provide support, advice and practical assistance in administering the programme. We can reduce overheads by enabling sponsors to donate to us instead of transferring funds direct to Uganda, which adds a large amount to each payment. By combining payments we can reduce these overheads and increase the proportion of donations available for charitable purposes.

Liaise with relevant UK charities and other organisations that may be able to support the work of the orphanage, such as Computers for Africa, Send a Cow, Farm Africa and similar projects.

Raise funds for running costs and for the projects planned by the orphanage committee. We will use a variety of fund raising methods including donor and grant funding as well as online affiliate schemes to link to our websites and internet auctions of donated goods. We will also approach companies who supply goods that could be supplied to the orphanage, requesting favourable terms/donations of goods.

Provide any other advice and support as necessary

Our charitable objects allow us to support other projects in the wider community
