Bwindi Orphans Development Centre teaches the children important life skills
and social skills
- Entertainment which involves teaching songs, dances
and drama that carry educational messages about HIV/AIDS and conservation.
- Training basic hygiene and sanitation.
- Training the children in handcraft designing, wood
carving and marketing locally made handcrafts.
- Holding sensitisation sessions with the children, about
how to live and behave socially in any given community.
- Training in agriculture and other income generating
activities. Poultry keeping, piggery, rabbit and goat rearing and bee
keeping.
- Children entertaining visitors especially tourists
who come to Bwindi impenetrable National Park.
- Children selling handcrafts to visitors through exhibitions
after every performance.
- Sensitizing the children about HIV/AIDS, STIs (sexually
transmitted infections) STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and adolescence.
- Giving special attention to young girls through straight
talk programs about early pregnancies, infections and abstinence.
