Welcome
to the Friends
Of Bwindi Orphanage homepage!
We are a UK-based charitable organisation set up in May 2007
to support the community around Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest in south
west Uganda, particularly orphaned and vulnerable children. Our
original aim was to focus on supporting Bwindi Orphans Development Centre,
(BODEC) which is situated in Buhoma, in the Kanunga district, Uganda,
at the entrance to the Impenetrable Rainforest.
Unfortunately we are no longer able to support BODEC. We will
now focus on supporting the community via other organisations, and hope
to have more news about new projects soon. We are also supporting
several individual students.

We can now claim gift aid payments from the Inland Revenue on eligible donations made since June 2007. Using Gift Aid we could receive an extra 28p for every £1 of eligible donations - that's £2.80 for every £10 and £28 for every £100!
If you are a higher rate taxpayer you can also reclaim some tax in your Self Assessment form - currently 25p for every £1 donated. If you are unsure whether you have already sent a declaration already please complete the form just in case!
