Information for sponsors
We are happy to provide further information or answer any questions you may have.
If you would like to become a sponsor please let us know if you have any preference as to the age, sex or school level of the student. Ignatius will then be able to match your generous gift to one of the students.
We are still trying to organise a workable system with the staff at the orphanage to ensure we get regular updates about the students. Older students are able to write directly to their sponsor parents, though obviously this also incurs a cost for the children and then needs to be taken to a post office so is not as straight forward as it sounds. This is why we request a small contribution towards bank transfer costs and other overheads.
We are aware that our non-registered status may cause people to be wary of entrusting us with their hard-earned cash. If you are considering supporting our work but would rather wait until we have achieved Registered Charity status please get in touch – it could help us with our Charity registration application.
Payment:
By cheque payable to ‘Friends of Bwindi Orphanage’
and sent to Jo Simpson, A House Called Dave, 5 Vale View, Radstock, Somerset
BA3 3QD
If you would like to set up a standing order from your account to cover costs for subsequent years that would enable us to ensure we always have the money available for your child.
£102.00 would work out at £ 8.50 per month
£252.00 would work out at £21.00 per month
If you would rather we can write to you to remind you when the sponsorship money is due for the next year.
Please let us know which way you would rather do it.
If you would like to send a gift or letter to your sponsor child the address
is:
BWINDI ORPHANS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE P.O BOX 501 KABALE-UGANDA.
If you wish to send a gift always ensure it weighs less than 2kg as the
postal rate is astronomical once a parcel goes over that weight.
Some ideas for gifts include clothes, (girls wear skirts or dresses rather than trousers ) shoes, toiletries, pens, pencils, stationary, toiletries, toys (no battery operated ones) wind up torches/radios etc, sweets and pretty much anything you can think of!
Please bear in mind that the post office is 5 hours away from the orphanage
it can take 2 months for a letter to reach the orphanage from the UK and
2 months to receive a reply. So please be patient!
Thank you so, so much
for sponsoring a child, your generosity will quite literally change their
life.
